This is simply a collection of 8 songs that Lamar worked on over the last 3 years that did not find their way onto To Pimp A Butterfly hence the title, untitled unmastered. It reminds me of The Life of Pablo, which probably says more about that album than this one.

It bears more resemblance to Section.80 than Good Kid, M.A.A.D City or To Pimp a Butterfly, but even comparing it to Section.80 would be a disservice to both albums. This album sitting in front of us is quite unlike anything else that Kendrick has produced before. And following the early release of To Pimp A Butterfly last year, Kendrick Lamar continues to surprise with a new album that came out of nowhere and landed in our laps. It’s a great day when one drops unexpectedly. It’s always a good day when a new album drops.
